You Have to ‘Walk the Walk’ If You Want to Stay Healthy

April 12th, 2012

Fitness experts often disagree on matters of exercise and nutrition and many people get confused by the amount of information on the dos and do not’s of healthy living. However, when it comes to the need for physical activity there seems to be universal agreement among everyone – if you want to remain healthy and well, you must do intentional proper exercise regularly.

Just a few generations ago most people where highly active each day just to survive. Many people were engaged in hard manual labor, whether farming, hunting or building. In contrast modern day workers sit in front of a computer most of the day or perform other seated non labor intensive tasks, drive a car virtually everywhere, and spend the evening in front of a television.

It is an exciting time to be alive in human evolution with the speed of the advance of technology but there is a dark side to it as well. With the physical activity taken away to make our lives easy, comfortable and convenient we have become fat, lazy and sick and a multitude of serious health threats now parallel the march of technology.

The facts are our bodies have been built to be active – highly active and have not changed in tens of thousands of years. The capacity for hard physical work is programmed into the blueprint of our genes and is in fact necessary for our body to remain strong and healthy.

When we use our muscles properly they release chemicals in the form of ‘growth and repair’ hormones that tell our body that its strength is needed to hunt and feed others. When our body does not receive these signals, chemicals whisper to the cells and tissues to decay, degenerate and die.

We think that a pill or a doctor can fix us if we become ill. But this is not so, no doctor, medical drug or procedure can fix the human body once it has arrived at a broken down state. By the time symptoms of a ‘chronic lifestyle’ disease show itself it may have been decades in the making. You have to do more than hope you will not end up with one of these nasty diseases. You need to practice prevention and the way to do it is to keep your muscle strong right throughout your lifetime.

The exercise you need to do to work your muscular system through its ranges of motion under a load is proper strength training exercise. Don’t expect long slow low intensity stuff like walking jogging or cycling to be able to do this. Get yourself set up on a proper program that will do the job in the quickest and most efficient manner. Keep your ‘fun’ stuff for after you have done the necessary muscle building and maintaining activity as this is what is needed first and foremost to keep you strong.

We have to realize there is no easy way and there never will be a pill or a doctor that can replace keeping our body strong so it remains healthy and well. More knowledge is not going to help either. We already have all the answers and understand the human body better than ever before.

But we have to do more than ‘talk the talk’ we have to ‘walk the walk’ as well. The answer lies in the doing. So get yourself started on a proper strength training program at your local gym or fitness center and protect your future.

Why This Online Program Matters That Much

January 21st, 2012

There are many benefits you could generate for taking the online master in public health degree program. And all of these said more benefits that you take could actually be generated at the same time when you decide to pursue your courses on that degree. This is all possible because of the very nature of the said programs in questions. You, above all, are modern people who certainly have more than just familiar with the online technology. However, what you may not be so “at home with” is with this technology being applied to schooling purposes.

Taking the online mph degree means that you are no longer required to personally attending the class, just like the way you did at your own old schools. Instead, you could attend your class from whatever place you currently occupy right now. And that does include your own kitchen, front yard, living room, or even you own private bed room. Otherwise, you may also access your class when you are in many public spaces such as the parks, shopping malls, city libraries, and alike. Needless to say, this ‘whatever place’ you are at that moment does require that you have online connection to conduct your learning process.
At the same time with that ‘wherever’ is precisely that ‘whenever’ you want to access your learning. This means that the online mph degree program does give you much flexibility to arrange your own schedule in learning. You could all take your lessons by the evening once you finish your industrial hours at the office. Or, you could choose to have it all by regular off-days from your daily office times. The point is, with these whenever and wherever you have bigger chance to pursue higher education at the same time you pursue your higher career. Hence, the more benefits for you to get much brighter, even the brightest, future in your own life.

Medical Bills and Filing for Bankruptcy

May 11th, 2011

In today’s society, there have been incredible advances in medical technology and there is a vast amount of information available about maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Most people make efforts to keep their bodies healthy by avoiding smoking, limiting their alcohol consumption, and by eating more fruits and vegetables. Unfortunately, even with the best efforts towards leading a healthy and active lifestyle, not everybody can beat genetics or avoid accidents.

Whether a person is seriously injured in a car accident, or they have suffered from an autoimmune disorder or a life-threatening disease such as cancer, medical bills can cost a fortune. Even if you have health insurance, co-pays can be extremely expensive over time, leading to financial ruin.

Despite popular belief, people are not necessarily driven to bankruptcy because of out-of-control and irresponsible spending habits. Many individuals and even parents are forced to file for bankruptcy because of a major accident, a serious illness, or worse, a very sick child.

An injured or sick family member can have an astounding effect on a family’s financial wellbeing. Medical bills can cost hundreds of thousands of dollars over the years, leaving the family to struggle. Fortunately, people struggling with medical bills may be able to find much needed relief through filing for bankruptcy. In a Chapter 7 bankruptcy, medical bills can be discharged, offering the family a fresh start. For those whose income is too high to qualify for a Chapter 7 bankruptcy, they may be able to file for Chapter 13 bankruptcy instead. A Chapter 13 bankruptcy is a debt reorganization bankruptcy whereby the individual restructures their debts into a repayment plan spread out over 3 to 5 years.

Each Chapter 13 bankruptcy is unique and no two are identical. If the idea of repaying your medical debts scares you, don’t let it. Chapter 13 bankruptcy is designed with the debtor in mind; it allows the debtor to have their debts restructured into a payment that they can easily afford. Filing for Chapter 13 bankruptcy may help you prevent further trouble down the road, as opposed to allowing medical bills to continue piling up.

Medical bills are very serious and can cause a great deal of stress when you should be focusing on your medical condition. A qualified bankruptcy attorney will be your most valuable asset when it comes to addressing your financial situation and finding a way to manage it. They will be able to guide you through the process and help you determine what actions you should take now and in the future to avoid the most amount of damage to your credit. Please, take a moment and contact a local bankruptcy lawyer who can guide you through bankruptcy or other alternatives while working towards an optimal solution to overwhelming medical bills.
